Due to a tragic car accident that left tenor Keith Smith seriously injured, the quartet did not perform for several months and, finally, in 2011 a new lead vocalist was discovered and Aaron Garcia joined the quartet.  Several life events transpired with Lawrence marrying his longtime girlfriend , Melonie, the birth of Aaron and Melissa's son, Mason, Keith transferring to college where he has a heavy schedule, and Bryce marrying his sweetheart, Ashlee, which all caused interruptions in freeWAY's performances.  In late 2013, the quartet made a pact to record a new project in 2014.

In the summer of 2007, Bryce Allard formed WAY Quartet at the request of W.A.Y. Choir director, Ken Fitzpatrick.  By the end of the summer tour, the quartet made a decision to record a project and in December 2007, they travelled to Nashville, Tennessee where they recorded music tracks at Quad Studios and vocals at Daywind Studios.  While in Nashville  they were encouraged to change their name and "freeWAY" was born.  The CD
